Charcoal Pencil Vegetable Magic

Line pencil drawing of a gourd. While drawing,
it reminded me of a spaceship.
Graphite pencil sketch of pepper
I've re discovered a charcoal pencil in my art bin. I was getting tired of drawing with the usual graphite pencils. This month I also explored adding colored pencils to my drawings, which brings them to life a bit.

Some of these gourds and peppers often remind me of animals or rocket ships.

I've drawn them so many times, you'd think I'd have them memorized by now. Sometimes, I notice the drawings can be a little stylized. I've been trying to be more aware of when I do so.
It is fun to add over exaggeration, stylizing and incorrect proportions for imaginative purposes.

the hat, robot and a pumpkin

Straw hat

Robot action figure that's
kind of like an insect
Drawing random objects is always fun and keeps life interesting. Animals move around and it can be a challenge to draw them unless they are sleeping.  Action figures are cool and are great to turn to as an alternative to plastic vegetables and flowers.

charcoal and then some...

robot drawing from sketchbook
After a while, plastic fruits and vegetables get boring to draw. Sometimes, they're too predictable. Action figures are fun and I've enjoyed drawing some using a 2B pencil.

These little robots can lead to hours of drawing them in different poses.

Not sure yet, where these series of drawings will go....

Outside with a book

Recently, I helped illustrate a book which will be available in June.  Working on this project took several months to complete....Art provides an escape and a creative outlet away from chronic pain issues at times.

A Question Mark around the pencil

Not sure what to draw these days. I haven't had much energy due to the weather and dealing with my chronic illness. When I do have the energy, I seem to be once again gravitating towards the plastic fruit and vegetables, specifically the pumpkins. There's some thing about the shape, color and texture that I find fascinating. Also, when I draw them, they sometimes come out crooked and out of proportion.

I did go through a phase where I was drawing action figure robots.  I may resume drawing them, as they seem to fascinate me like the plastic vegetables do.
